Picea pungens 'Lutea'

This is a 3-4' example and is going to be my plant of choice for 2012. It's slow growing, irregular habit and golden color make this a stand-out plant, no matter what the season.

With little to no snow and frozen ground, pruning has been easy and enjoyable. Here, three year old Gleditsia Skyline are pruned semi hard. This fast growing tree will be ready for sale in 2014.
Winter is a great time for pruning for many reasons: It is easiest to see the structure of the tree to improve it; there are no active pests or diseases to infect the prune; there is minimal sap leakage due to freezing temperatures. Keep this in mind if your incoming funds are low this year due to the lack of snow to plow. You can always prune!
